Our Story

Since 2007, God has taken the Lee family on a journey filled with many faith steps

The Beginning

Since 2007, God has taken the Lee family on a journey filled with many faith steps. These steps have included three adoptions, starting a nonprofit in two countries, and a deepening commitment to defend the weak and fatherless.

Psalm 82:3 Mission officially began in July 2014; however, God had been preparing the way for more than 4 years. The mission is believed to have actually begun on June 5, 2011, on a hotel patio in Liberia, when adoptive father Matt Lee began writing down the needs of the AFAA House Liberia orphanage.

On the return from Liberia, sitting in the Newark Airport, God had used the trip to open the hearts of the team to unite and fully sponsor the orphanage. Two weeks after the second team returned, a smaller group met, prayed together, and Psalm 82:3 Mission was officially born.

The Mission is Born

Psalm 82:3 Mission, Inc is a Christian, non-profit organization defending the weak and fatherless by empowering communities through foster care and sustainable community resources. The ministry is developing a safe, Christ-centered children's village and sustainable community center in Grand Bassa County, Liberia, Africa.

Matthew Lee is the founder and Executive Director of Psalm 82:3 Mission. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Terah, for 20 years. They have 5 children from 2 continents – Colten, Onah, Blessing, Marie, and Izzy. In 2020, Matthew transitioned from fulltime Children's Pastor, where he had served since 2002, to focus entirely on leading Psalm 82:3 Mission.

The community center includes a church, school, medical & therapy clinic, agriculture development, and more. The safe children's village focuses on serving children in the area of foster care.
