Frequently Asked Questions

What percentage of my donation will actually reach the children?

100% of the funds donated through monthly sponsorships and one-time donations are used for the care of the children within the orphanage. This includes food, clothing, school-related expenses, rent, utilities, medical expenses, and modest wages for the orphanage staff. Psalm 82:3 Mission and Lifesong for Orphans have been blessed with a partners that underwrite all US administrative and fundraising costs (TMG Foundation and other partners). That means 100% of your donation goes directly to the need…helping orphans.

Are my Donations Tax-Deductible?

Psalm 82:3 Mission has partnered with Lifesong for Orphans, which is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. As an affiliate organization of Lifesong donations and child sponsorships are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Individual donations $50 or more and yearly donations totaling $250 or more will receive a tax-deductible receipt.

Are Christians Called to Care for Orphans?

God calls us to look after those who are vulnerable and defenseless. As Christ followers, it is our responsibility to care for children without a mother or father, and for the poor and defenseless. In the New Testament, God says that true religion is “to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” (James 1:27).  In Psalm 82:3 proclaims “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” The plight of the orphan is spoken of many times in the bible and it is our duty to defend the rights of these vulnerable children.

Does Psalm 82:3 Ministry Help with Adoptions?

Our mission is to partner with the Liberian orphanage to provide the best possible care for the children within that orphanage. We are not an adoption agency. However, the Liberian orphanage is associated with Americans for African Adoptions (AFAA) for adoptions. Please refer to that organization for questions related to adoptions. Also, Psalm 82:3 Mission is an advocate ministry of Lifesong for Orphans, which has grant, loan and other funding programs for adoptions.

Is there Moratorium on International Adoptions from Liberia?

No. In June 2015 President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf lifted the moratorium placed on child adoptions in Liberia that was initially put in place on in 2009.

Does Psalm 82:3 Ministry Help Orpahans in the US?

There are needs all around us, and we all know that there are children in our own country who need our help. But Psalm 82:3 Mission has been called to reach into one of the hardest places in our world for orphans. The United States is fortunate to have systems in place that serve as a safety net for orphan children, that do not exist in Liberia.

Does my Donation go to the Specific Child I Selected?

No. While some orphan care ministries use a child sponsorship model that allocates money to specific children, Psalm 82:3 Mission treats the orphanage as a family unit and therefore your donation contributes to the collective operational cost of the orphanage. This is a more cost-effective strategy, guaranteeing that 100% of donations go to the children.
